Hello. Just wanted ask a question about letting a child know their condition. I wanted ask an older person if it's a good idea to let your child know they are autistic, or waiting until they are older.
When my step son was diagnosed the specialist told us to wait and he will figure it out for himself, but I was thinking would it be better to tell him so he's not confused about himself. When it comes to reading for example he really struggles where as his much younger cousin age 4 can already read better than him. And he tries his best but gets stuck on 3 letter words still.
So can anyone tell me if it's a good idea to tell him or wait until he figures it out?
