Autism without stereo types?

Do i have asd im getting second test and failed the first test.

I don't have meltdowns often maybe burnout on weekends due to the entire week like irritated, issues with sound and light and depression.

I have interests like gaming been grinding rocketleague and collect aftershave but not sure if it's special interests.

My room is filthy aren't people with autism pretty originated?

Honestly I got something wrong with me mentally i think adhd but mental health care team can only come to conclusion of autism.

I hate myself I don't show the real me to even my family I hide my hyperself only on online discord friends I get all hyper and weird and apparently im annoying.

I failed my first asd test apparently because on the second part I didn't show physical asd systems think was echolalia and speech issues and not enough information given due to fact I can talk to people but not able to give detailed information and questions I tend to struggle with and need as much detail as possible to understand them but to scared to ask for more details as I don't seem to take in the information given to me. I've been told I can't get psychology anymore because im not psychologically minded.

I could go on all day but my real question is if im not stereo type asd can I still gave asd.

It is quite possible to be on the autistic spectrum but not reach the level for a diagnosis.

This is because the diagnosis is literally a label that your autistic traits are disabling you, so if you do not reach the threshold then you are considered to be non-disabled.

You can be 99% of the limit, still have lots of autistic traits but not be at the level of a diagnosis. It doesn't mean you are not autistic, just not a disabled one.

It helps not to worry about this but rather to focus on the fact you have identified that the same neurodiverse mechanisms are causing you issues which you can now research and be able to manage better.

my real question is if im not stereo type asd can I still gave asd

Yes you can still be autistic.

It helps to know that the "spectrum" of autism means that those who are autistic have a range of different traits, all at different intensities so there is no accurate stereotype. We are all quite different and we are capable of learning coping mechanisms for our traits that means we can "mask" to appear normal, but at a cost to us mentally.

Which of your autistic traits are causing you issues? This may be a good place to start as we can point you in the direction of resources that can inform you and give tips for reducing their impact on life.

  • Think my autism is the reason for my agoraphobia anxiety disorder and panic disorder being do debilitating im housebound for 10 years o can go out for little walk with my dog but that's it. This is a common issue for autists related to executive function. There is a brief article on it here:

    https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/physical-health/keeping-healthy

There are plenty more articles online about it so searching online for "autism executive function" should give a lot to consider.

You will need to find an approach that works for you, but you have to want to make a change for it to work.

Phobias are very hard to deal with without professional help, and that help needs to understand autism well to be able to create a plan to help you as conventional approaches are often ineffective because of other autistic traits.

In your position I would consider calling your GP and ask for their advice. The lack of an autism diagnosis may make this more difficult but explain your test scores on the autism test, that you need help and see if they can offer a referral to someone.

If the GP won't do this then going privately is the only option I expect, and that costs at least £50/hour and it will most likely need many hours to get to understand you, create a plan to help and work through the steps.

Healthcare in this country is quite limited when it comes to mental health I'm afraid.

One thing that I think will help the most in the short term is to accept that you are on the autistic spectrum, that it is a part of you since birth and that it is part of who you are. Find the good in yourself, embrace the bits you don't like too - accept them and if you need to work on them then educate yourself and get professional help to improve them.

Keep a journal as well as sometimes it helps to look back later on and see how far you have come. It helps build confidence that you are capable of improvement and taking back control. There will be ups and downs just like everyone else in the world, but you are the one who got you through the darkness and made the difference.

Of course I'm just some random off the internet and you should do your own research before even considering any of this Grinning
