Travel Insurance while awaiting assessment

Hi,

I'm aware there are already posts about getting travel insurance, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience with companies which have provided them travel insurance while awaiting assessment?

Annoyingly, awaiting autism assessment seems to be covered under the "Are you awaiting investigation?" question they put on the form. If you answer yes to it, then most seem to say they cannot insure you. Comparison sites also refuse to provide quotes. Any that do work ask you to ring up, which I've no problem with, but I don't want to ring and sit on hold, chat through everything, to then be told they can't insure me or for them to give an excessive quote.

Thanks

  • I haven’t travelled since the year before COVID. As I was diagnosed in 2023, when I do next travel, I’ll need to ask my current insurer whether they can still cover me (we have cover through a packaged bank account).

If they can’t, or if the additional cost seems high, I’ve already made a note (because I worry about these things, even though I have no trips planned!) in my travel checklist to get a quote from AllClear Travel Insurance. They specialise in offering over for people pre-existing medical conditions and are a Which? Best buy, with a five-star defaqto rating. Perhaps they might be of interest?

  • I'll take a look. Thanks!

I also hadn't thought about my bank. I don't pay the extra for the insurance at the moment, but it's one to potentally look into and I can ask them easily through the chat.
