Popular singers whose voice just grates

There are a few very successful singers that I really cannot stand to hear their voices. The sound just grates horribly. I wondered if anyone else has sensory problems with singers who appeal to many people.

My top aural horrors are: Janis Joplin, Rod Stewart, Liam Gallagher and Morrissey.

  • Almost forgot—probably a trauma response—but anything by Guns'n'Roses. A college housemate had a thing for them and played their album all day every day for two years. I have definitely had my fill. I genuinely start feeling stressed and agitated when I hear them. I need it to stop.

  • Yes, I forgot Axl Rose. Dreadful voice. The only good thing Guns and Roses ever did was the intro to Welcome to the Jungle. As soon as the main part of the song kicks in, it's bad again. If it's on the radio I will always listen to the intro and then scramble to turn it off before any danger of hearing his screeching.
