Popular singers whose voice just grates

There are a few very successful singers that I really cannot stand to hear their voices. The sound just grates horribly. I wondered if anyone else has sensory problems with singers who appeal to many people.

My top aural horrors are: Janis Joplin, Rod Stewart, Liam Gallagher and Morrissey.

  • I just thought of a whole genre of recent music - might be vaguely classified as soul (not the good stuff) or hip hop, I'm not sure, I recognise it because all the singers sound like they are in pain - like someone is squeezing their 'nads in a vice. Appalling stuff!
