Popular singers whose voice just grates

There are a few very successful singers that I really cannot stand to hear their voices. The sound just grates horribly. I wondered if anyone else has sensory problems with singers who appeal to many people.

My top aural horrors are: Janis Joplin, Rod Stewart, Liam Gallagher and Morrissey.

  • I don’t really listen to modern music, but when I hear stuff on the radio from modern male singers, the majority seem to have adopted a very distressing croaky, strained vocal style, and it really gets on my ***. The one male singer, who I could listen to forever is George Michael. Voice of a god.
