Do you have interesting ways to communicate with others?

Some time ago I was told about Parallel Play where children play next to each other, each in their own activity.

This was quite interesting for me, and how we did things with my partner -before she broke up with me. For example, she would paint and I would program. The only difference being that we were physically quite close to each other.

I did try to reading books together with relatives, but we have different preferences and speeds (I am very slow and focus on details) and it didn't work.

This has been the most recurrent theme of my psychology sessions -and still unsolved: find ways to communicate. And some candidates were: look at what they like that does not seem too tiring, reduce the amount of time to 5-10', try simply sharing something funny, look for anything in common, etc. etc.

[Persistent Though I couldn't avoid: I'd put anything in place of a phone or video call.]

  • Do you have any ways in which you interact friends or relatives that feels good to you, and is not so common (as the examples I gave just above) ?
