Fencing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My son is 6 diagnosed severe autism non verbal challenging behaviours he escaped from the garden months ago and was found by the POLICE since then I've been running round in circles trying to get this fencing done I live in a housing association property they have agreed to pay for 1/2 the fencing 

but who is legally responsible for safeguarding the house ???

  • Personally, I feel that that you have the ultimate responsibility and that the HA are being quite helpful by paying half but that's if you have lived there for a while and the fencing was previously adequate.  I believe most HA's do not take responsibility for fencing as is similar with private landlords in general but it will depend on the wording in your contract or handbook.

    If paying your half is difficult, you may be able to get the HA to pay initially for your half and then add a small sum onto your rent each week.  Alternatively, you may be able to apply to a charity if you have any involvement with social care or a family support group.  

    Going back to the HA, if its like mine, you should have a housing officer for your area to contact?  Mine have replaced some fencing in my area but its a short chicken wire type of fence that probably wouldn't meet your son's needs.
