Why do we sometimes wear our hobbies as clothing do you think?

My theory is that as autists we find it hard to talk to people we don’t know who might be worth talking to so wearing our favourite bands or ganes or shows on a shirt opens up rhe chance for a conversation or a  possible friendship(which are hard to find)

  • I don't think favourite bands is necessarily an autism thing. I think a lot of neurotypical people also where band t-shirts. In some fashions it is a popular way to dress. Same with football shirts.

However, things more like games and shows I think can be more of an autism thing. Not for everybody but probably more like than for someone neurotypical. I think there are a couple of reasons. One is that our special interests bring us comfort so wearing it is a good way to do this as it goes everywhere with us. The other is a lot of us don't feel the same need, or maybe even have the awareness that these things are less "socially acceptable" (depending on what is on the clothing) after a certain age and will dress how we want to dress rather than because of a fashion trend.
