How busking helped my adhd and autism

As a musicans busking always helps but for autism it helped me realise performing can be a huge stim snd calms me

For adhd it helped for leaning a guy came up to me and shied me how to play sweet Home Alabama that same day another guy who was an ex teacher told me about power chords and how you can use them to learn the fret board that day my guitar knowledge shot up huge amounts

heres good comments ive had busking to

wow keep it up yout amazing

you have a voice like Elvis Costello

dis you write that song it was really good (after playing dear Maria by all time low, still alive from portal and no cigar by millioncolin)

keep music live

only ever had 4 negatives and one that I thought was negritude but was not in the end

negatives one a lady walking past me with a smokers voice rasping you can’t sing love (never claim im a good singer im primarily a guitarist)

I thought I’d try busking in a supermarket car park after 15 mins security told me the manager said it wasn’t allowed tbh fair play I learned that day that car parks unlike highsteeefs are private property nkt council

a guy on drugs making sexual remarks to me to the point I had to love spot

another busker had his flute stolen

but the positives outweigh them by far

the one that was not negative but thought it was a guy came out of his shop/studio and said ive got students inthere you csn still play but can you angle your amp away from the shop

Circa eight years ago, I heard so many buskers in Belfast perform 'Ho Hey!' I wondered was there anything else they sing. One Sunday, then, I heard a Bloke perform 'Breathe' by Pink Floyd; my faith in humanity was suddenly restored.

Earlier this year, I heard a Bloke perform 'Old Man' but my priority, then, was getting to the Bus/Train Station. Alas, I couldn't tap him.

I did order a few original songs, via Babndcamp, of a woman who used to busk in Belfast. Paid attention to her, mainly, by her performing 'Red Right Hand'. Though it was probably because of PJ Harvey singing it, for 'Peaky Blinders' rather than the Nick Cave original. I even ordered a t-shirt off her Bandcamp site.

Hard to believe, it's now eighteen years since 'Once' was released in the Cinemas. That was the Film that made Busking a thing to do. Glen Hansard cut his teeth as a Busker, in Dublin, before starring in 'The Commitments' and fronting The Frames.
