GP/Support Worker Letter

So I don’t know if this is a thing or where to even begin to look but after my recent diagnosis of Autism I’ve had my final report and wondered if there’s a condensed version or some kind of letter I can get with regards to reasonable adjustments or sensory issues that need to be taken into account in my normal everyday life. I’m still waiting on 1:1 support which has a 6 month waiting list. But feel like this may be more useful when approaching people or being asked for proof. I’d rather not send my report to people as it contains information about growing up and my family that is private and I don’t want to have to redact huge parts of it. Many thanks for you help Heart

  • Hi. I was only diagnosed last year. I’m not getting any support and, if I’m honest, I wouldn’t know where to turn, either. I’m still recovering after being quite unwell, but managing to do a little bit of reading/youtube in order to try to help me figure out what my slice of the autism wheel looks like. My report contained some confidential family information, also, so I’ve been very selective with who I’ve shared that with. I had been paying privately for CBT but that hasn’t really changed anything. I’m interested to see any other replies/advice you receive on here. R

  • I find the more reading I do the more confused I get. I've now got an appointment for talking therapy and think I may just bite the bullet and say immediately that I need time to process any questions,   preferably have them written down first and be given time to answer. I think that's my main concern as I tend to panic answer and say what I think people want me to and am never able to vocalise what I actually think or feel. I had CBT through the NHS a few years ago and it didn't help me at all be in all fairness this was pre diagnosis and also was to help with anxiety and depression. It was my therapist who told me to go and get an autism assessment. I hope you are on the road to recovery with your illness and I hope you find out all the information you need as do I.
