Work training

The NAS have a 2 day training course which I thought looked perfect for me until I found out they are London based. Apparently they are doing one in the year in Leeds. both are totally inappropriate distance wise for me and I hate London unfortunately. I live in Gloucestershire and was hoping they would di something closer like Bristol or Birmingham

Does anyone have any experience of any other similar courses that anyone offers that are in a more reasonable location? 

  • Depends what sort of courses you are looking for. That may be what is stalling responses - people aren't sure whether you are a parent, a professional or someone on the spectrum. If you could provide more detail of what you are looking for, I'm sure there are people on here who can share knowledge of where near Gloucester you might get on to useful courses.

    There are courses for parents setting out on the great adventure with autistic children, courses for people working with people on the spectrum, courses for educators, and courses for people on the spectrum to help them cope.

    I know the Autism Centre at Sheffield Hallam provides courses and events ( www.shu.ac.uk/.../theautismcentre ), particularly for those on the spectrum, and these do the rounds of towns and cities outside London. And there are conferences and events around the country that provide some training element.

    Also there are training courses and events for broader neuro-diverse backgrounds within which autism may be covered. Some universities provide courses, primarily aimed at teachers, which you could get on to. And there are private organisations offering such services.
