  • Hello and welcome to the community.

I am known as Dormouse and I am an ordinary member of the community here.

I am not in the same living situation as you; but I wanted to say "hello and wey" to you and to talk with you a bit more here (I hope that is OK with you?).

Because you used the words "homes not hospitals" as the subject of your post; that made me think that maybe you also know about a "Care and Treatment Review" too?

Sometimes people just say "CTR".  Other times people add the word "Education" into the name of the review as well - so it can be known as C(E)TR if the person is under 25 years old.

I will use that description (C(E)TR because helpful information available about those reviews tends to use that description too.

Have I understood that correctly - that you already know about a CTR or C(E)TR?

I wondered if someone you trust might be helping you at the moment to plan and prepare for attending your C(E)TR - and that was maybe why you also added in your reply "how to make sense of it. its complicated and nothing makes sense"?

Sometimes when a person is under the local authority care system, or the person lives in hospitals for a long time; they can be asked to use a planner about getting ready for going to a C(E)TR.  This is intended to be a way to try and help the person understand more about the review and to prepare to take part in a review.  Has someone talked with you before about the planner for getting ready for the review?

I am asking these questions because I saw that the NHS has an information webpage for people getting ready for their review and on that page there are two links.  One of the links shows you information with symbols (and the other link doesn't have symbols).  The NHS is trying to give people information in the style which suits the person best.

When they say "with symbols": it is actually meaning - what I think most people would say is an "Easy Read" document (with pictures to make it easier to look through the document and know more about what each part of it is talking about, or asking about, or where people need to write in their own information and thoughts).

Something which might confuse people is that although the NHS calls it a "planner" on the first webpage link; when you press the link to the next page it is a document which they then call a "booklet" or a "form".  Well, I thought that could be a bit confusing for some people!

They introduce the booklet by saying:

"This booklet helps before, during and after a Care (Education) and Treatment Review (C(E)TR). It is about consent, planning your C(E)TR and what happens next. You can either fill it in on a computer, or print and fill it in by hand. It comes with, or without, symbols."

I don't know whether someone might have already shown you that booklet before?

If you wanted to have a look to see if you think you have already got that booklet; you can find it on the webpage using the below link:

    https://www.england.nhs.uk/publication/my-care-and-treatment-review-planner/

I have already written quite a lot of information and asked you a number of different questions - to try and better understand what sort of things might be happening to have caused you to say: "how to make sense of it. its complicated and nothing makes sense".

I will stop writing for now - to give you a chance to read and think about things.

If you are happy to say a bit more about the things you would like to have make more sense and which things you are finding complicated - that would be great (hopefully, I or other members, or the Mod / Moderation Team might have some suggestions about those things).

Please do correct me if I have misunderstood your situation and your hope for more support from the community members here - who are also supported by the Mod / Moderation Team Members too.

(That all sounded a bit like I was trying to give you some homework!  I don't mean it that way - as it was all said by me wearing a friendly smile).

Please do remember that here on the Community, to keep everyone safe; we try to talk about things in a way which still keeps us anonymous to other people reading what we have written (we try not to say things in a way which personally identify ourselves in the real World and we try not to say things which are too detailed about our actual location in the real World).

    Best wishes, (known as) Dormouse.
