Help with housing

Does Anton know if a housing officer and a early help worker who are actively trying to move a family can make it more urgent and possibly override any protocols that(in my opinion) may not go in our favour (such as a management move due to disrepair) may consider the sensory needs and the spaciual needs of autistic family members

idealy(snd I do know this may not be a possibility) I’d like a dining room or if the consideration can be made a spare bedroom that can be used as a dual purpose room A have all my buisness equipment in cupboards, lockers and filing cabinets so it’s put away after work hours and B have a cupboard for our adhd autisim stuff(like I want to get a bag with my defenders a water bottle and some other bits in for my sensory needs whilst im working at gigs and a smaller bag that I can repack for general trumps) and sensory stuff in and when nkt used for work it could be a sensory space wirh perhaps an old tv in hooked up to a dvd player for calming DVDs like music or trains

and if I was lucky to get 2 spare rooms of snynkind it would be nice to have a kids playroom room

but like I say im doubtful this can be done right now so I might need to have less work stuff a smaller bag and keep it in my own room in one cupboard and have a smaller filling cabinet

  • I know I’ll likely not meet the criteria for a need for an extra room for a disability since that applies to sleeping needs but do you think I could fight for a dining room so I can have that separate office space away from the distractions of a house full of 3 other people using the bed rooms and living room? Just so I have a quiet space like I say out of office hours it’s be a dedicated sensory room wirh all work stuff stored out of sight

  • How about making your bedroom your office.

I rented a flat once that had a fold up bed - it folded into a built in wardrobe and gave the room the ability to be used for other things - you need to be a bit organised but it seems more realistic to achieve.

  • A bed room as my office would take away our personal space as I need room for  a guitar an amp mics mic stands a printer a desk a filing cabinet and extra space for up scaling for when I decide it’s time to get DJ controllers a u bass a violin bass and a Chibson sg plus a bedroom with sound proofing isnt the best decor is it

  • Im just trying to not rush i to a bad section I guess since my adhd likes to do so plus if I have another space to store the guitars thats the ideal space for a work space plus I need a sensory room thats not a bed room so why joy combine to two just pain all the guitar cupboards white or black and do the same with the walls i don’t know o mean your idea is a good compromise if I can’t get a dining room

  • so some nice calm pastels is a must

You can paint sound dampening coverings too, so it is no reason not to do it.

I'll make an assumption here so please correct me if I'm wrong. Are you puting excuses in the way to getting the environment you want now? It may be subliminal so think carefully - there are ways to achieve what you need but are you using not getting what you want as an excuse to not make the steps forward?

I find many autists indulge in a form of self sabotage that seems linked to their low self worth but they are unaware that they are doing it. Just something to consider.

  • For me bedrooms are used mostly for sleep but also a calming space in the day away from distraction so some nice calm pastels is a must

The movable items (guitar, amp, mics etc) can be moved out into another space at night time, the desk can be one that attaches to the wall and folds down while the filing cabinet and printer can stay in the living space.

As for scaling up - if you are decoming successful enough to do this then hopefully you can afford to move to a better place to live that has all these things.

As for the decor, personally I would use the bedroom for sleeping so the decor is irrelevant.I'm sure you could paint it artistically and make it a feature of you put your mind to it.

I'm just trying to show ways this can work with your available circumstances.
