Blue Badge

Hi all. I recently have been turned down for a disability Blue Badge. I'm autistic. I suffer from serve anxiety, and stress. Going outside is a big problem for me, especially shopping. I cannot stand being around strangers, or to be in public. Having a Blue Badge would benefit me in many ways. But Durham Council has rejected my application. I feel they have discriminated against someone with a hidden disability. I will appeal against there decision.

    I am sorry to read you have been rejected. I wish you well with your appeal. I am a autistic blue badge holder and my local council have been very understanding and helpful but sadly, this is not always the case when it comes to hidden disability's.  I had to provide a lot of evidence to show how my autism and other issues affects me on a journey in order to apply for a blue badge. As Ian wrote, it would be great to understand why the council rejected your application and for you to provide evidence to prove them wrong. Hope it goes well for you.
