censorship, locking of threads and freedom of expression

Following from a discussion on this discussion about the way threads are locked or removed when someone if offended by the content which remain within the rules (  Why Did Number Leave This Place? ) I thought it worth having a poll to see if there in an interest in requesting a change to the way these posts are moderated.

  • The cancellation of this thread really annoyed me. If people find a subject triggering then they shouldn't be reading it, whats happened to the idea of people taking some responsibilty for themselves instead of expecting the world to bow before them?

I was initially of this opinion but on reflection there is an element of victim shaming going on when we do this.

Without the appropriate tools in place to help the more obvious triggers be flagged up then we do risk alienating that small minority who are suffering.

I think it a reasonable accommodation to use the flagging / warning labels approach.
