Diagnosis and questions

Hello all that are curious,

So I've taken the online assessments and have it has indicated that I am more than likely on the spectrum. But I'm almost 40 if I get officially diagnosed I don't know what that would change. I need help understanding.

Thank you.

  • Externally, not much would change as there is not usually any support for autistic adults in most UK areas.

It might change how you view yourself. This could be a good thing, as it may explain why you have struggled with certain things. It might be negative, if it makes you feel that it could stop you achieving things you'd wish be do, or make you feel less.worthy than others. It could be a combination of the two.

I didn't get a formal diagnosis, but I know I'm on the spectrum and this community has been a good experience for me. Whether you get a formal diagnosis or not, you're welcome here and I hope it gives you a sense of validation and belonging.
