I saw something really horrible earlier, so this is a trigger warning.

I was watching the news earlier and they showed a piece about online groups who are posting cat torture videos, horrible, distressing pictures of kittens being tormented and adult cats.

What is wrong with people? If i saw someone doing something like this, then the red mist would come down and I'd be channelling my inner Boudicca and woe betide the torturers.

  • Like child abuse, it's an international issue and these companies don't exist within any one jurisdiction, so they get away with it, some people would say things like this are freedom of speech and expression and should be protected at all costs, they never think that the costs involve lives.

They never think that all it takes for evil to prevail, is for good people to do nothing.

The piece before it was on the suffering of the Palestinians in Gaza, nobodies say what Hamas did was right, but what Israel's doing isn't right either, two wrongs don't make a right. Starving people to death is a crime against humanity, there are many good people in Israel that want this to stop and say 'Not in our name', but those voices are being drowned out by the corruption of those in control who want to save thier own skins at the expense of thousands of others.

  • Quite often people who hurt animals will also hurt people. It's a lack of empathy.

It is also an abuse to exploit something weaker.

It violates lots of morals and is a red red flag, which is why I think there is a strong reaction and rejection.

  • Thank you for the warning.

I scrolled past your post because I saw the news headlines earlier. From your post description, and a flash of a couple of words in the body of your text, I can tell it is about unimaginable suffering. I hope my response is related to what you have said.

Although I support animal charities, and animal welfare practices, I cannot bear to see or read about some aspects of their work. I still have vivid recollections of some of the things I’ve seen from years ago.

I fail to see the difference between physical suffering in animals, and physical suffering in humans. Suffering is never good in any situation. The government needs to tighten up on all aspects of animal welfare and lower the threshold to allow harsher prison sentences in all cases involving cruelty.

Veterinarians, veterinary nurses, animal welfare officers and carers, have my admiration for the necessary work they do.
