Can anyopne explain what this looks like, practically, I mean, ie do I ask the GP to do this? Do they have to have these agreements in place with other places? Is there any way I can find out what agreements they have in place with who? it's not on there website so I guess it means asking. Do you need a reason to choose another place? or is just being faster a good one.....Is the DSM 5 criteria usually used or others? which is best suited to woman. Does it matter? 

I'm on the NHS waiting list (about a year in my area). I hope to move and don't want to then have to start again at the bottom in a different area.. 

I've read the information on here and other places online so I'm not looking for that. Sorry about all the questions, thanks for your replies.

    The process I went through was right to choose and I went with Psychiatry UK however the mental health nurse did my referral after filling out the AQ-10 form and sent my referral off to psychiatry UK without asking me if it was them I wanted to use. I am assuming it was perhaps default to use Psychiatry UK from my part of England? You will need to follow the guidance in the text messages sent to you from Psychiatry UK and a form of photographic ID if you choose to use them. The text will explain that an email has been sent to you with instructions on what to do next. This would be make an account with them for purposes of communicating and reading any notes added to your file. You should then receive further texts as some point asking you to book an assessment with a professional of your choosing but you’ll have to pick from an available time slot to book in for the video call assessment. I think I used Skype for mine? Not too down with the IT side of things anymore. 

    Edit: took around 3 months from referral to assessment.

    Thank you. I sent a request to my GP for Psychiatry UK, so we will see. I was initially referred to the Owl centre and they also do stuff like that online. I'm not good at the either, but I am prepared to seek help if it's beyond what I can figure out. This is important to me. The Owl centre has a 5yr waiting list, though doctor said it was 1yr, so 3 months is far preferrable. Now I've finally accepted I'm autistic, I just want to be affirmed. It was first suggestd to me in 2018 so I didn't take to it immediately, but now I'm relieved to be autistic as it makes sense of all my struggles.
