  • For many it takes a lot of courage and good faith to even put ourselves online, only to be met with shenanigans.

Have you considered there is an alternative to trying to find the needle in a haystack which is someone who will operate at the level you are asking?

How about learning the rules of social engagements, especially around dating and understand that this is what the vast majority of people are using. Once you understand the rules then you can engage in their customs and practices as required in order to get out of it what you are after - which is to get past the initial meetings and find people who are ALSO interesting in a way you want.

I don't mean this as a criticism of your approach, but as finding an approach to using the system to get what you want. You don't have to play their games, just know what is expected, do the minimum to get past the facade and look beyond the surface.

I found that making it a special interest and exercise in psychology actually made it quite fun. I don't do it often but now at least I know the rules of engagement and can join in when / if I want to.

  • Sod it all.  It was a stupid pipe dream.

  • It is possible though unlike most dreams.

There is a cost - time, effort and some anxiety but if it helps you achieve your dreams then it seems worth considering.

  • Being easily discouraged, black and white thinking, etc. are things to look out for.

If you want something, try to break it down into smaller pieces, then go for it. Often the only person holding you back is you.

It is tempting to focus on the end goal and forget there are things that will happen along the way which will help. The more you practice the better you will become. You don't need to succeed on the first go or in a set time.

I need to follow my own advice.
