2e or not 2e? That is the question

Savants they are called I believe, there’s a man who was able to read two pages of a book at the same time, another had photographic memory and could paints something he’s only seen once without any props in front of him. I think there was a movie covering the same topic called rain man.

Savantism is a totally different concept. A savant might memorise a phone book, but be unable to add 2 + 2. Savants frequently would be classified as having learning difficulties, because their brains tend to be very specialised.

Giftedness would still be in certain areas though? I mean surely no one’s great at everything? Some savants have autism too.

Nope, me neither. I can’t say I am really good at anything particularly. The idea of savants and those with high IQ is a very interesting one though, I expect their brains have been examined in great detail to check for any abnormalities. 

Well, we are talking about people with high general intelligence, rather than people with high specific intelligence.

About 50% of savants are autistic and 10-30% of autistic people have some savant skills. I think I'm in the 70-90% that don't. I cannot point to any specific skill I have and say, "I'm much better at that skill than the average plebeian." But, then again, how do I know I'm not vastly superior at visualising fruit in my head? Am I? Is there an online test for that?
