Financial support advisor

Hello,

I am autistic and have been diagnosed about 4 years ago.

I have been trying my hardest to manage financially since then (and before to be honest) but have always found myself struggling.

I am simply messaging here to ask if you know any good advisor cause as much as I do research, I always get very overwhelmed and do not understand what I really am entitled to. Someone or a service who fully knows the different benefits we are entitled to would be amazing.

I am really hoping to get a respons. people hugging

  • The main point of my reply is to suggest that you talk with a Citizens Advice adviser, who can help you to identify and apply for relevant benefits. You can find your local office via this page, which also includes their national helpline number if you'd prefer to use that:

    Citizens Advice - Contact us

I'll also just signpost some other resources, in case you'd also find it helpful to have a look at them:

    1. Turn2us offers lots of information on its website and also has a tool to help you find national and local sources of benefits advice:

    Turn2us - Find an adviser

    2. You might also be able to find an adviser via the NAS's directory:

    NAS - Autism Services Directory

    3. Benefits and Work also offers some great information - including an online forum - although a subscription is required to access the full set of resources:

    Benefits and Work

    4. Some other suggested sources of advice are linked here:

Shelter - Where to get benefits advice

    5. Finally, the NAS itself has some advice here:

NAS - Benefits for autistic adults

  • Thank you very much for all these links, I have tried to call the Citizens Advice in my area to book an appointment but they did not pick up. I will try again at the time they open in a few days, if not I did not realise that they had a helpline so this is very helpful.

  • You're most welcome! Slight smile
