Issues with impulse

Hi sometimes I have issues controlling my impulse yesterday for example I had a small argument with my friend and he blocked when I was supposed to be seeing him to do my fire performance down the beach. As soon as I was blocked I saw red and went over to his when I was half way he unblocked me and said he needed to calm down and to not go over until after 5 I’m glad that happened. Went over at the agreed time then spent a few hours over his then we went to the beach to perform for a few hours. Last night could have been very different both of us having autistic meltdowns shouting outside his and a massive strain on our friendship. But luckily that didn’t happen but I’m afraid of it actually happening because of my impulses. Does anyone else struggle to control their impulses and how can I control mine?

  • You have to do what he did. When you feel yourself getting worked up, stop for half an hour, do something else, switch off the phone or block messages, and give yourself time to calm down. After 30 mins, if you are calm, then look at the facts and decide what to do.

Since you know you will get worked up and you can recognise when you are, you just need to have the discipline to remove yourself from the situation and calm down before acting.
