Hi beetroot sorry it didn't work but its good your antidepressants are helping you.yes I get what your saying x
Thanks for the reply catwoman that's interesting to hear. Sorry it didn't work for you too x
I did try it years ago to help stop smoking, I didn't get on with the guy doing it and I told him why I wasn't getting on with it, mostly because he sat behind a screen, talking through a microphone whilst I was lying on a couch. He did it as a kind of guided meditation and to my mind he did it to fast and not very well, but then having spent so much time on meditation retreats and running them too, maybe I was being to critical, but he was not open to feed back, not even turning off his microphone. I don't know if my mind is to well trained in those sort of techniques or if it was a trust thing, I just went in there, and he wanted to get straight on with it which didn't feel comfortable or safe.
I tried this about 5 years ago, but it didn't work for me either antidepressants have helped though. As KK says it may work for others. Unfortunately it seems you have to try and work through different options to see what helps you as an individual, sometimes its not one thing but combinations that work too.
About 30 years ago I did try hypnosis and it had no effect. That’s just my experience though - it might work well for some people.
Hello Purplemoon2008,
It may be in your interest to look at the Anxiety pages on the NAS website. It explains how do you know if you are anxious, why autistic people experience anxiety and a lot more. Here is the link: https://www.autism.org.uk/advice-and-guidance/topics/mental-health/anxiety
