I am so fed up of people knocking instead of using the freaking doorbell. Since I overlook the front I'm often the first point of contact, when the others have the TV on.

Ours is the classic ding dong. I prefer it to people rapping on the glass myself.
I agree ArchaeC, first off I'd have to have some sort of smart device for it and that's a no no.
Fearn is usually happy to greet visitors, she does have to tell them the house rules and has only ever not wanted to let two people in, one I didn't like so she was probably picking up on my hostility and another I think was scared of dogs.
Vortex what sound does your bell make? One of the things that annoys me about door bells is the noise.
It likely wouldn’t for TheCatWoman !
By doorbell I mean the traditional wired kind not the wireless Ring variety.
Ah right, when you’ve got a dog every visitor is a massive intrusion lol. At the same time though, I’ve always felt a bit safer with a dog. Yeah the doorbell camera was a bit tricky for me to figure out, but once you’ve got it set up it basically runs itself.
Every delivery happens with a loud intrusive sound, mostly Fearn barking, we havve a knocker rathet than a door bell, one of those ring things is to much tech for me, lol.
I can understand your dislike of that ding dong. Fortunately, I have an old fashioned door bell, so if you ever call at my house you wouldn’t have any good excuse to be banging my paintwork!
If I was to get a camera door bell, it wouldn’t be one of those ‘Ring system’ cameras, as I object to paying for a subscription service.
I'm a Knocker; so I'll agree to disagree.
Them Ring Security Bells do in my head. Dong, ding dong! Dong, ding, dong!
YES! Me too! I get Amazon drivers, charity collectors and others ringing the bell and then knocking on the door. It really annoys me and causes me a lot of stress, especially if I’m not feeling great to start with. Recently, I have taken a few deep breaths, opened the door, and asked them politely to please refrain from damaging my paintwork by knocking on it. I point out that the purpose of a doorbell is to alert me to callers at the door.
I think some callers feel that I will respond quicker if they bang the door as well.
IMO I’d rather neither. Knocking scares the snot out of me and the doorbell makes me jump out of my skin. Thankfully I’ve got a doorbell camera, so most of our deliveries happen without some loud, intrusive sound.
