- Hi all does anyone else struggle with looping thoughts? Mine are horrendous and once I'm stuck on an anxious thought I cannot stop and it gets so bad I feel like I don't want to be here anymore. I can't seem to distract myself from these thoughts
Yes, I get that. For me it‘s often about what-if-scenarios which make me feel anxious, but what bothers me the most in my everyday life is what I call ”logic looping“. I will go over a thought again and again and again in an effort to make sense of it while ultimately just confusing myself further. This is very upsetting and can lead to strong anxiousness, frustration or even set me up for shut-/meltdowns.
I found that repeating a phrase or scheme (for example naming my favourite whale species over and over or even more often continuously going through the cABCDE-scheme) can help me to drown out the looping thoughts and to reset my focus. This of course only works when I recognise the loop rather early on so that I‘m not already too deep in it.

I can relate to situations too and it can make me have meltdowns also. Thanks for the advice I will try the repeating technique x
