Autistic adults often face barriers in gaining and maintaining paid employment. To address these challenges, efforts focus on raising awareness, improving support and accommodations, and promoting inclusive hiring practices. UK policies, including the Autism Strategy, Welsh Government’s Code of Practice, Learning Disability Action Plan, and the Buckland Review, prioritise better employment support for autistic workers. While these initiatives help create more inclusive workplaces, research remains inconclusive on whether there are gender differences in support needs (Fegan et al., 2024). This PhD study aims to understand the workplace support needs of autistic people and compare results across different gender groups to identify any variations in effectiveness or satisfaction levels.
