Talking Therapies - appointment cancelled with 40 mins notice

Feeling P'd off that my scheduled Talking Therapies appointment was cancelled this morning with 40 (well 43 to be exact) mins notice

You have to wait (6 wks) for a slot so have it in you mind it will happen.

I have alerts on my phone on Silent, so I don't react to every ping (also no social media on there for same reason) and missed the cancellation text, so with 5 mins to go , at my PC logged in, and then noticed a msg on my phone, cancellation.  arghh

Understand it could be for good reason - like Therapist is sick or more urgent priorities - I'm not at risk.  Non-the-less annoyed, although hopefully next appointment will go ahead.

Sorry having a mini-vent.  I'll move on, in a minute.

  • Good old NHS (nobody speak bad of our national treasure)...sorry

So I rebooked another Talking Therapies appointment this morning, for a time next week and 1 hr ago this evening another text saying that one is now cancelled and I now have to phone to rebook.  I wonder is this to rebook for another cancellation ?

  • Hi, I'm new here but saw this and I can understand your frustrations. I have all my own notifications on silent as well, and this has happened to me twice before. Really I should unmute my phone but the constant messages and calls induce my anxiety so I leave it.

It's always annoying though when someone cancels, especially when it's something that's to help you. Hopefully their reasons for cancelling are genuine, I like to think they are rather than they just couldn't be bothered with me that day.

Hope you get a new appointment soon!

I'm glad you vented. It's better to get it off your chest than keep it bottled up deep inside.

  • I tend to have every device notification on silent/vibrate to avoid the anxiety it causes and the distraction. Sometimes can catch you out though, like it has for you.

Have a good rant and vent, it's really rubbish to cancel on people at all, especially when it's mental health related, it's therapy 101 I assume, they must be taught to help people and "don't cause any problems"

  • Thanks White_Dragon

Am over it - well at least until the wife comes home from work and asks how it went.

I was sent a questionnaire - yesterday , now me's thinking they we're just seeing if I was at risk or not.  But it could be something genuine

Know what you mean re missed delivery slots - especially when you'd stayed in or needed it for something.

  • Vent away. I wouldn’t be loving it either, Tesco got me the other week with a no show which took ages to get over….
