For once, a lighthearted post from me. I can do these sometimes! I'll even start with a tune...
Useless information churns up useless information, seems to fill my head, with nowhere else to go
This is a song by The Move called, you guessed it, Useless Information. Roy Wood bemoans the demise of meaningful discourse: talking about the weather, or your recent operation, or the price of eggs etc.
Now, This is not an autistic thing: it's banter that most people indulge in. But does anyone find, as neurodivergent, that you are asked a straightforward question and you offer more information than is required?
For example, I needed to arrange transportation to an appointment, and was asked a battery of questions regarding my heath and wellbeing. One such question was "are you suffering anything like cold, flu or Covid?" Well, I replied, "Not really. I've got a bit of a sniffly nose, which might be hay fever. Oh, and a cough, although I do smoke. I had Covid, but did not suffer symptoms. Plus, that was ages ago. Basically, I aways feel like crap, but it's a default setting, as it were..."
"So, that's a 'no'. That's fine," was the reply.
At least, I sorted the transportation out. Hopefully, they can get to the bottom of my leg pain. They'll never cure my verbal diarrhea!
