Hoping for AI therapy

Having been disappointed by counsellors with only basic training and apathetic GPs and in a region where nobody gives a duck about adult autism (now I'm adopting a don't ask, don't tell policy), I'm waiting for AI to come in and pick up the slack.  24/7 contact, more agreeable rates, constant updates to knowledge and techniques and more structure and feedback.

Even AI companions are a thing, apps now, but in a few decades fully interactive constructs and more, so people will want for almost nothing.

Though the price paid would be lack of human empathy, connection, if any, and data being used, it seems inevitable given humanity's giving up on each other and "ooh, sorry about that sweetie, but I can't help you" attitude.

  • Dear EXILe,

We are sorry that you have been disappointed with councillors.

If you are interested in counselling (NHS & private), you may like to have a look at the Autism Services Directory: https://www.autism.org.uk/directory under ‘Health & Counsellors’.

This guide produced by NAS may be of interest. It collates suggestions on ways professionals can make mental health talking therapies better for autistic people.

Content note- the guide contains sections on suicide and self-harm: Good practice guide for professionals delivering therapy

    I hope this is helpful.

    Kind Regards,
    Rosie Mod
