CPW S and CPNS

Dear All,

Been taking a break from posting but just wanted to reach out re the above.

To remind you CPW is a Community Protection Warning

CPNS Are more serious and are the follow up a Community Protection Notice.

They are issued by the Local Authority and or the Local Police.

They are in my view an infringement of our liberties and are often given out to people with Mental Health issues.

My gripe with these orders are that the complainants can just make allegations that are unfounded and unchallenged and then the Council or Police will issue them.

Once you have one it is a nightmare to get them removed. If you get a CPN at your own expense you have to challenge this in court within 21 days. There is no Legal aid toe fight these orders.

I am not asking for help to fight mine as i have excellent legal representations support from a pressure group, my family as well as taking on a lot myself.

Please if anyone has experienced getting one of these or has any thoughts on them would be delighted to hear.I will try and avoid going into specifics of my case as I am trying to fight the whole aspect of the above. They are missed bad news and generally completely unfair.People without mental or physical health issues if they get one often become very unwell.

Thanks and Hope you are all enjoying the Bank holiday.

  • I'd never even heard of them, let alone know what they are or what they're for.

  • I am sorry you've found yourself in this position.

Thank-you for explaining your feelings about these orders and how they could disproportionately affect those with Mental Health Issues.  It is good to be aware of such matters.

It is good that you are getting appropriate legal support, and - because we can't offer legal advice here as you likely know - we'd have to signpost people with this sort of issue to legal advisors or the CAB, for example.

I hope you find some way of getting the matter resolved.
