Managed to get through today

Today was the funeral it was really overwhelming at first clashed with my friends sister. The cars arrived at i managed to get in at the end of the service we went back to my friends sisters and we both apologised to one another and got on well. I supported my friend through out today and ran over to him when he broke down after his dad was placed in the ground. Had loads of people hug me and I was like I don’t like this but managed to hug back and luckily me and my friend went for a walk with his sisters dogs which helped a lot. Now having a cuppa over my friends flat and I’m glad I’m away from all the people now. I am proud of myself for overcoming my fears of people and I’m glad I was able to stay strong today.

  • Glad it went ok, it's definitely best to face fears and try to sort them, as long as you look after you along the way

Sounds like you should give yourself a bit of praise and be proud!

I'm a firm believer that avoidance isn't always the right answer, especially with autism, I think we tend to learn even quicker than NTs that if we avoided something that means it's bad and we always should. (I read that somewhere too recently by a psychologist so i felt reinforced , I'll see if I can find it again!)
