Yes, I'm really ok....

Does anyone else ever get drained by NT people who once they realise we're ND they're constantly checking in to the point of annoyance, and when we say we're doing ok they say "Really though? Are you sure?" as if we're always masking it even when we are actually ok?

I know the people who do this to me mean well , but when I'm actually ok and they keep asking, or do the head tilt or the hard stare, it feels really infantilising as if we don't know our own mind.

"Yes I'm ok. I'm well aware of my energy levels and I'm very open about my feelings (if I feel safe with you) so if I'm really not ok I will tell you. Now please stop asking because pretty soon I won't be ok!"

  • To be honest the only people who ever ask me if I’m ok are my husband and adult children! And they know me very well so are pretty attuned to my emotional state so tend to know if the question is warranted. I understand why you might find it annoying - but it’s also nice that someone cares enough to ask!
