Autism Diagnosis Right To Choose

Hi, I am currently on the process of trying to get a diagnosis for autism and adhd. I have been on a waiting list for over a year now. Recently I have been looking into Right to Choose, and from what I understand this allows me to choose a health provider and get a referral from my gp to get nhs to fund the assessment.

I dont know much about it so please let me know if im wrong about anything or if you have more information. If anyone has gotten a diagnosis from Right to Choose please give me some advice if you are willing.

Does anyone know of any good clinics or providers to do an autism assessment that i could look into? Maybe around the area or Surrey or London and one without a too long waiting list if possible?

Thanks.

  • I have been doing some research on providers and i thought Skylight seemed like a good option, the website mentions the current waiting time is 6-8 weeks which is extremely quick compared to other places, and it is relatively close to me.
Its good to know that this provider seemed to work well for you. I will look into some more options just to be sure but I am strongly considering going with Skylight.

    Thanks for letting me know.

  • I ended up using the right to choose after a 3 year wait on the NHS. I went to the GP who sent me a link to providers and their estimated waiting times.

I chose Skylight as they had a relatively short wait time and they also had a clinic within an hours drive. Initially I had a load of online questionnaires, followed by a video call that had further questions and to go over the questionnaires that I'd completed. Finally I had the face to face assessment, which was fairly painless.

8 weeks later I received my report.

There are many providers and a fair few offer video assessments so you can go through the whole process remotely.

    Good luck
