Is there anyone who is self-employed?

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about self-employment in the autistic community. We often hear about barriers to employment, but not as much about autistic people starting their own businesses or being self-employed. 

  • Do you know some programs that can offer entrepreneurial training for autistic people?

  • Is it that the stories just aren’t being shared enough?

  • How can we get funds?

  • I am self-employed as a writer and also do self-employed pet care. It is the only work I've ever done that has felt sustainable and not led to burnout/ meltdown after a few weeks. I would highly recommend self-employment as you can manage your own time and do as much/ little as you want depending on your energy levels and what feels overwhelming to you.
