Sensory and communication skills

Hi everyone, does anyone have any tips on improving communication skills and dealing with sensory difficulties? For instance, I get overwhelmed when people speak too fast or too loudly. I also struggle in crowded places, especially when I volunteer at my local café every Tuesday.Once it gets busy, I lose the ability to complete even the simplest tasks that I can normally do when it’s quieter. I also find it difficult to be in groups.

Recently, I took two courses. I did well in one because the teacher got us all involved in tasks. However, in another course where it was  just talking about a subject, I got overwhelmed and tired quickly. I could tell the teacher thought I was being rude because I couldn’t stop yawning, but I just felt exhausted. I was ashamed of myself because I struggled to focus due to the lack of practical activities.
I never know how people will respond if I say that I need an adaptations put in place. To prevent me getting oversimulated.

I have only been diagnosed two weeks ago and feel that I finally understand myself more.
Thank you.
