Parking Charge Notice. Advice please....

Hello everyone,

I received a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) the other day. £100!!!!! Courtesy of Parking Eye.

I had an appointment at my local health centre for hearing aid fitting and I parked in their car park. I genuinely didn’t see any notices and had no idea I had to register my car once inside the building.

I have been back to have a look and can see there are notices there but they are 10 foot off the ground. I tend to look straight ahead when driving!!!! It does state that parking is only for staff, patients and visitors. In very small print there is an instruction to register your vehicle once inside the building. I did not notice these notices at the time. I was focused on finding a space. I only parked there for the time my appointment took.

I don’t want to use my autism as an excuse but....

Does anyone have any similar experiences of this or any advice as to whether it is worth appealing?

I am feeling a bit p......d off.

Any advice would be appreciated.

  • Unless its from the council ignore it completely. Don't appeal as they will reject your appeal anyway. Let them try and send you to small claims. They won't do that. But if you do worst case scenario is you will just owe them the £100 anyway. But you will likely win the small claims case.

    I got one last year after the job centre forced me to attend a jobs workshp with the council. It lasted four hours and was in a car part that is free for three hours. I asked advice online and everyone said to ignore it.

    I agree with this. Parking Eye are awful and won't approve your appeal. If you do insist on paying it, pay by cheque to annoy them :-)

    I read a story once about someone who paid with 1p coins and they had to accept it. Probably cost a lot in postage though!

    It is the lack of any response from you whatsoever that stops them from being able to "establish a controversy" and hence qualify to bring a case against you... 

    PLUS if you still aren't responding by the third letter then you are either dead or "trouble" and they have enough suckers just throwing money at them, so why pursue you? 

    Well done Martin, VERY few people in my experience ever figure out or manage to learn how that game works.
