Are universal credit just against autistic people?

Hi everyone sorry if that seems like a loaded question. I'm being migrated over from esa to universal credit, done all the online form and need to have a biographical appointment. I've explained that not knowing what's happening and what to expect is a big struggle for me so could they explain please. All I ever get is "look at your to do list".

Surely they should be making things easier for disabled people not more difficult. Really boils my bananas.

  • Yes they are. I too, had to transfer to UC and the whole process was made as difficult as possible. The DWP insisted I attend the job center to prove my ID instead of a home visit as requested. I had to make up a phone number as I do not use one yet they kept trying to call me? They do not seem to grasp the concept of disability and expect me to overcome mine. I have had more help from other agencies as well as a home visit.

  • Of course they are.  UC Is a nightmare.  They insist I attend appointments every two weeks, plus job fairs and various one off events to help me back into work.   Miss an appointment and they threaten to take your benefits away.
