Hello everyone, I am grandmother to an autistic granddaughter, in her first year at mainstream school.
I just heard an amazing interview on Woman's hour about a boy who began in mainstream school but is now in a 'between school'
Does anyone have information on these please - Google hasn't helped me. These schools appear to follow the national curriculum but have smaller classes and do lots of alternative activities such as working with animals.
This sounds ideal for our little one but the mother interviewed on Woman's Hour (radio 4) said that she wished there were more of them, so I guess they are rare. She has written a book which I shall buy and will post anything useful on this site. In the meantime, if anyone has more information, I would love to hear from you.
Best wishes
Suzie
