Film and TV

I gave up  my TV license in 2001 and I haven't watched many films for years.

We (ie since then) have a household TV but I've never figured out even how to turn it on.

However, because I'm running out of books to read and my eyesight is failing, I've now got my own TV.

I have no idea what to watch.

The sorts of films I used to watch weren't usually mainstream - eg. Paris, Texas; Betty Blue; The Double Life of Veronique; the Three Colours Trilogy.

I need to branch out.

The novels I like most and read most of are detective, thrillers, murder mysteries.

However, I'm open to all sorts of suggestions.

So, background over, do you have any recommendations for films or TV series and, just generally, what do you like watching?

  • If you aren’t after a nice comforting murder mystery, you might like the crime series “Strike” based on the Cormoron Strike novels.  The series revolves around the private detective Cormoron Strike & partner. Before being a private detective he had been injured the army and had lost part of his leg in an attack in Afghanistan. I binged the whole series and enjoyed it very much.
