I'm on the autistic spectrum and feeling overwhelmed.

Hello

Im on the autistic spectrum and feeling overwhelmed.

1. The local coop store in my town is closed until April due to a refurbishment. Unfortunately, the building is listed due to the chimney pots and the pillars (supporting the roof); luckily, local shops are helping out with more range and opening longer hours. Also, there a temporary newsagents to preorder newspapers. Yesterday, I managed to pick up mine and paid for the following week. My fear is that people are going to Aldi to shop.

2. Network Rail is conducting essential work at Level Crossing from 10pm on Saturday, 8th February, to 6am on Monday, 10th February. Rail replacement buses will operate all day Sunday, leading to potential chaos, while normal buses are diverting.

There will also be work from 10pm on 10th February until approximately 8am on 11th February.

A road closure is in effect throughout this period, with no access for pedestrians or vehicles. Machinery will be in use, and drivers often ignore the closure signs, complicating access, especially on dustbin day tomorrow when a small dustbin lorry may be needed. In a nutshell

  1. I feel like my town is like a building site.

  • This sounds like my town. For the last few months it feels like they have been digging up every road in and out. The one that goes from my house to the town centre has been a construction site for months. The only thing I can say is that it's a really good feeling when those temporary traffic lights finally go! I drove down that road without having to stop for the first time in ages the other day and it was great Slight smile

  • This morning going for a walk to the telephone box library exchange. I'd put some books in the exchange and need to take some out. Also two exciting football matches coming up and watching both on itv. Today and Tuesday. I don't normally follow football but both are playing higher league .

  • This does sound like a lot going on in one area.  It builds a picture of a semi-rural place with limited infrastructure & amenities anyway - so that any disturbances will have more repercussions than if the area were more built-up.  However, that's just the impression I get.

I could be positive & suggest it sounds like they are trying to get a lot of these works out of the way in the Winter, and it could be looked upon favourably that it is better this way than to have something disrupted week after week.  Hopefully after this spate of events, things will settle down.

Personally, I'd be busying myself with as much as possible, or taking myself out of the area if the noise proved too much - even for a walk. I realise it is overwhelming, but it could arguably be said that when this is all over there might be some benefits to be felt.

    Wishing you some peace, somehow.
