How has everyone’s year going for them so far

Hi so are you guys year going so far? With me it’s hard I have been approved to do agency work around different schools but at the moment there are no placements available. I’ve got the job centre on my back which is really annoying. The good things about this year is I did my first live fire performance at a winter festival. Hundreds of people watched and I loved every minute of it and I am doing more practice with my fire staff I was at the park earlier practicing with it unlit for a good hour and my dog had a nice run around. I am planning on creating a zen garden in my house to help with my mental health so far I have an indoor water fountain battery operated and I’m going to grow a bonsai tree. I’m also helping a local autism charity with an enterprise project to help raise funds so yeah so far this year is having its ups and downs. So please share how this year is going for you so far.

  • Hi Rach,

Your fire performance sounds amazing. I remember reading that you and your friend both got overwhelmed afterwards, so I'm glad to read that your overall experience is positive. The garden sounds great. I like Japanese style gardens.

I've not got the post-Christmas/January blues as much as I normally do, so that is a win for me! And my wife and I are niece and dog sitting on Saturday night which is always something to look forward to,.

  • I researching for a book I'd like to write, planing what to do with the garden when the weathers better.

Good on you for performing, the thought of doing something like that gives me the colleywobbles, let alone doing it.

  • Oddly enough, public speaking dosen't bother me that much as long as I have a firm grasp of the material I'm speaking about. I once gave a demonstration and talk on Indian Head Massage to a group from the Womens Institute, they're a tough crowd, gossiping and whispering. It's doing anything thats about me thats the problem, I much prefer anonimity, I couldn't stand up and sing in public, even though when I was younger I had an amazing singing voice.

  • I loved every minute of it. I used to do public speaking around schools disability awareness. I spoke about my diagnosis and so on I used to do it with another person who had severe cerebral palsy she was in a wheelchair could speak no problem but couldn’t move any of her joints only her hands. Big difference between public speaking and performing with fire but I’m a very confident autistic person my parents pushed me to be independent.
