Last night my friend who is autistic like me was driving me home from a festival we had performed at we are fire performers. It was great loads of people and I loved it. Anyway last night I was really over stimulated and the drive back was hell we both had autistic meltdowns and mine turned into a panic attack outside of the house my friend was screaming at me to get out of the car and I physically couldn’t move my friends meltdown was getting worse and worse and he was sounding his horn yelling at me to get out of the car. My neighbours from across the road came out to try to calm the situation down and the police were called. Luckily the police that came had autism training and managed to calm the situation down got me out of the car and walked my friend away. We didn’t get into trouble or anything and once everything was calm my friend came over to me and we hugged and he said he was really sorry the police could see that he wasn’t an abusive person and I cried then they referred me for mental health support and I then hugged my friend some more and I am seeing him later as we want to talk in person about last night. I really don’t want that happening again we not violent people we don’t physically hurt one another and we are best friends. If anyone has any advice on how to prevent this from happening again I would really appreciate it. I am struggling with my mental health and my friend is trying to help me I mean we perform with fire that is way out of my comfort zone but I love it as it is helping me with my confidence.
