waiting for an assessment

hello everyone, never posted here before but I'm in a bit of a pickle at the moment, i got accepted for a diagnosis mid last year and the waiting list is really long, is there anything i can do until it happens and also ive heard so many stories of people not getting diagnosed at the final hurdle because some of their traits dont match the criteria and im worried that will happen to me any advice on that?

thank you for reading and sorry its written a bit weird im just not sure how to say it right lol anyways thanks again!

  • Hi Evie, Waiting for the assessment is an anxious time. I distracted myself by researching autism to try to better understand if it really fit me. I also went through therapy while waiting, which helped.

Re some people not getting the diagnosis: it’s really important that they get it right, not just give everyone a diagnosis. There are other conditions which have overlapping symptoms (eg ADHD and BPD) so it’s important correct condition is identified so people get the right help.
