“Fast tracked” NHS assessment

Received a phone call a week before Christmas saying my assessment has been “fast tracked” for various reasons I wont share. They provided us with yet more forms which have almost been completed. How long after handing these forms back should I expect to be given an assessment date? I was told when i was first referred that their waitlist is 2-4 years but dont particularly know what applies when you’re “fast tracked”? For reference, i was referred in February 2024 and it’s through the NHS. (I am also on a RTC waitlist but somehow got through the NHS faster so will be calling to get taken off that one once I receive an assessment date with the NHS.) Thanks!

  • I suggest asking the NHS team directly. They should understand the importance (particularly for you, as a potentially autistic person), of being given some idea of expected timing between submitting the forms and the next step. Waiting times for any stage of the process may differ widely around the country, so l’d personally be wary of relying on anyone else’s experience.
