It's understandable but frustrating

It's understandable, but frustrating, that I'll often be talked down to by non family members IRL, be they health professionals or not. They see my daughter helping me quite a lot, and jump to the conclusion that I'm not all there. Very few of them, including health professionals, know about adaptive functioning and autism  - how it can be much < IQ/level of intelligence.

It's a situation made worse by the fact that for more than quite small distances I'm in a wheelchair. That can result in being spoken to in a slow, and overly accentuated, manner-again as though I'm not all there.
