How to choose a doctor on Psychiatry UK?

I've recently received a link from Psychiatry UK to choose an assessment date and time for an Autism assessment.

On the booking site I can choose from loads of different doctors to do my assessment.

How am I meant to choose? What criteria should I use?

Each doctor has a profile but these have an overwhelming amount of information, much of it irrelevant.

  • Personally, I would go for a psychiatrist over a clinical psychologist as I prefer the psychiatric approach to diagnosis. Again, that is just a personal preference. Check that the clinician has specialised in adult autism. I had a diagnosis from Psychiatry UK, the clinician who assessed me was also a consultant psychiatrist for the NHS, and had specialisms in both childhood and adult autism.
