Occupational health adjustments non-adherence?

To preface - I work in an office doing non important stuff

My usual working shifts are Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri (my usual working from home day is Thurs). My manager dropped on me last second as they were walking out the door today, a Friday afternoon that my following weeks wfh day cant go ahead due to staffing numbers as "we're not allowed" to leave 1 person in office (which we have all been left solo in office multiple times enough times). My manager has said I cant wfh any other day next week and would have to do all 4 days in office, and believes she has given me "enough notice".  As part of my occupational health adjustments, I'm allowed to call into work in the mornings if I'm having a day where I'm overwhelmed and may need to wfh that day.

Can I stand my ground that my usual routine is wfh Thurs or can they pull the 'business needs' card and take away from me? It isnt written down anywhere that Thursday is MY day, just that I have a wfh day per week.

My thoughts are that if working in the office all days will cause you significant distress (not just inconvenience and hassle) then stand your ground. Making a stand because it is your routine however would not really be in the spirit of the agreement.

In essence if you NEED it then make a stand otherwise point out to your boss that it will cause you some distress but you will help them out this once.

The thing about having more than 1 person is a safety thing (in case 1 person gets into a situation where they need someone to call an ambulance etc) and I suspect they have been told to make sure they are following this rule.

They have given 6 days notice more or less so it will be seen as reasonable by them.

I would look at what agreement you have in writing about this WFH day and if it is set in stone then you can push back fairly easily, but if not then I would ask to have it setup formally so you can create this space to manage your anxiety levels.

    Good luck.
