Hi, I have 23 year old twins who have been diagnosed with High Functioning Asperger's. We had a diagnosis from a private psychologist as the NHS didn't seem to be very helpful at all. They have both never worked, avoid people to the point they lead a reclusive lifestyle, sleeping during daylight and up during darkness. They are not able to look after themselves. They have very slow processing which when tested shows they are in the low range. Neither of them accept the diagnosis. I am wondering what, if any, benefits they could claim and can I start the claims on their behalf as quite honestly they are not capable of undertaking a claim and don't feel they need to claim anything as they don't want to live on benefits. I currently keep them and provide them with money for anything they require. They have no income and I am concerned what they will live on and how they will look after themselves when I am no longer here, hopefully not anytime soon as I am only 61, but you never know.
Has anyone got any experience of this and how I go about applying for any benefits?
Thanks
