Making Friends as an older autist

Hello

I received my formal diagnosis 4 years ago and it has taken me this long to reach out to anyone.  I think I was in a state of denial.

Has anyone else felt that way?

Although I am relieved to know what has been wrong all these years, I still don't know where to start. I think perhaps this forum is a good start.

  • Hi and welcome.

Don't worry about how long it's taken, we all move at different speeds and there's no one way to do things. You should always do what you feel comfortable doing when you feel the time is right.

I joined here in 2022 and made my initial hello post and then didn't want again until last week because I was anxious about not being accepted or being ghosted like people do to me in real life. As it happens I am so glad I decided to post here again. This is a friendly and warm community, I already feel I am surrounded by friends.

I hope you will enjoy being here. It's a lovely place.
